When to use it
For a client comparing two or more offers for the same work. Use one row per requirement and write included, excluded or unclear in each supplier column. An unclear item remains an open question until the supplier responds.
Open the CSV in your spreadsheet application. It contains headings and one clearly labelled illustrative row: delete that row before using the template for a real property. You can also print this page using your browser menu.
How to use the template
- Start with a common written brief and give each requirement a reference.
- Copy the relevant scope reference from each quotation. Keep VAT treatment, quantities, access costs and optional work explicit.
- Ask each supplier to resolve the gaps in writing. Update the worksheet with the date and document reference of the clarification.
- Record the reasons for selection and any conditions still to be met. Retain the accepted scope with the appointment documents.
Fields and illustrative example
The example below explains the format. It is not a client record or a recommendation for your property.
| Field | Illustrative value |
|---|---|
| Requirement | Illustrative example: asset-level completion report |
| Brief reference | Example brief section 4 |
| Supplier A inclusion / reference | Included: example offer A section 3 |
| Supplier B inclusion / reference | Unclear: attendance confirmation only |
| Supplier C inclusion / reference | Not requested |
| Price basis / VAT treatment | Confirm whether reporting is included in fee |
| Clarification needed | Does the report identify open defects separately? |
| Owner | Client representative |
| Reply due | To agree |
| Agreed outcome | Await clarification |
Use with appropriate judgement
A comparison worksheet does not establish technical competence, certify a proposed solution or replace contract advice. Evaluate supplier suitability and technical requirements separately with the appropriate advisers.
